General HOB Overflow Questions

Ive finally got my 55gal sump up and running. The system is running better then I expected!

so I have a few questions. but first ill give you the loop.

DT overflow box to overflow drain box with a 1.25 inch U

overflow drain box to sump by 1.5in pvc 1.5ft long into 3/4in flexible hose into chamber 1 which is roughly 13x12x17

water then travels into a bubble trap 6x12x15 then into chamber 2 which is 23x12x14 then into chamber 3 which is the return around 6x12 footprint. then back up to the display via6foot 3/4dia hose into 3/4in pvc then a ball valve, check valve then 1ft pvc into 2 90degree elbows then a 45 degree elbow. (btw don't overthink the measurememnts they are a very good estimate

Now ive got a few questions. to my understanding if I want to slow down the flow between the whole system all I do is close my ball valve a little on my return correct?

will my display stay at one water level and as water evaporates the level in the return pump baffle will lower?

will the HOB overflow provide enough aeriation for gas exchange if I were to move my powerhead from agitating the surface to down lower? there is quite a bit of air that comes through the overflow box with the water
