Sponges!

Something I noticed about my live rock is that over time I realize how many sponges have appeared in and around the rocks.

The most common I seen is a pale, white-colored one that normally just encrusts rock. It's very frail to any firm touch. Sometimes it branches out, normally deep inside the rock work where I cannot see it.

Another kind is black and never branches out. It's black in color and seems to have little hairs on it.

Another encrusting is yellow, appearing in patches in crevices.

Finally and most recently is another that looks identical to the black kind, but it is the color of Coraline algae.

Tell me of sponges, friends. I'd like to know more.
