Help! Ammonia and nitrite in new tank!

Well, not mine, but this is for anyone who has a new tank with livestock, or a QT quarantine tank with fish and they are getting ammonia or nitrite readings. This excellent post will help you keep your fish alive and allay your concerns that adding Prime (Seachems dechlorinator and nitrite ammonia reducer) might be ruining your cycle. It gives info on how often to re-dose, and which meds interact negatively with Prime, which is info that is helpful especially for those treating in QT, and which would have helped me tremendously back in 2005.



It also explains why using dechlorinated tap water to make up your saltwater is a bad idea (and I'm not even talking about the subsequent algae issues....this is a whole nother reason!!!)
