I picked up a 38 gallon tank + stand at yard sale. The guy that was selling it used it for a marine aquarium and he was selling it because he was upgrading to a larger tank, so he sold it me for a good deal.
Anyways, I've always wanted a saltwater tank but heard they were a lot of work. But after talking to the guy that sold me the tank, I decided it didn't sound like as much work as I had feared.
My tank has 40 lbs of live rock and 50 lbs of live sand. I have a HOB filtre and HOB skimmer. My wife and I set it up yesterday and are now waiting until the cycle is set up. I'm hoping I can start a clean up crew in about 2 weeks, but we'll have to see where my ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite levels are at. I plan to make this a coral tank with maybe 3-5 fish (not including some micro hermits, shrimp, starfish and snails).
Any advice you guys have is welcome. I've been doing a lot of research on marine tanks, but I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing.
