Leaking Pump

I put my Skimmer back together and I can not get the pump to stop leaking. I thought about rubbing silicone on the oring? What do you think? Will it seal it so tight I will not be able to separate it in the future?



If I do that, how long should I let it dry before testing it?



My pump is an Oceanrunner 3500 with a needle wheel.
