Remove bioballs?

I have a biocube 29 that was started December 17, 2013. I have been running the bioballs and have recently been told to remove them. I would like everyone's opinion on this. Should i remove them or not? Pros and cons of bioballs. Why should i remove them? And finally how should i remove them? Thank you!
