I've been researching rock lifts and tried a few over the last few years. I've tried the PVC sealed rack and the PVC lifts with holes cut in the sides. Not too happy with either (aesthetics or detritus buildup) I've never tried the acrylic rods.
I came across a few posts where Geoff mentioned a solid plateau with the benefit of not having to clean under the rock mound. Some comments said this would not allow for certain critters to dig burrows etc.
So I came up with an idea for a plateau that is a star shape of sorts made from HDPE. The rockwork would come all the way out to the edges of the star's legs. There would be nooks of sand going under the rock that are contained and easily accessible for cleaning. There would not be a mound of sand directly under the rock.
This idea is for a large mound of rockwork where accessing sand in the middle would be impossible using a traditional rock lift.
Thoughts? Anyone seen or used a lift like this?
