Here is my sitch:
I have a 10G sump which works under a 29G tank. I have a protein skimmer which is rated for a 50G upwards capacity (it's one of them hang on back, venturi kind, which does NOT use an airstone).
Now I have cyano bacteria in my tank and I wanted to use GFO to get rid of the phosphates which it feeds on.
Since the skimmer has some extra capacity, do you guys think it is a good idea to put some GFO in a media bag inside the skimmer body. I was thinking that the whole idea is to bring water in contact with the GFO, might as well piggy back on the skimmer for that?
