Hiya!
I've been scouring the web looking at different skimmers, reading reviews, and asking questions, but the best advice I've ever had for any of my saltwater tank endeavors has always come from The Reef Tank forum. Please help.
I have a SeaClear System II acrylic tank and I'm pretty happy with it. Fish and corals are all happy except for my frogspawn, and I'm thinking that the main reason why is my skimming (especially since it perks up a little after water changes).
The skimmer included with the tank is pure useless garbage. I've replaced it with "Lee's Medium Counter-Current Skimmer", and it has performed admirably for the last 6 months and fits perfectly in the rear compartment.
The problem that I have now is that the last time I pulled it to replace the wooden airstone, I cracked the cheapo housing. Rather than buy another one for 40 bucks, I figured that it would be pretty nice to replace it with something of higher quality.
Space is my biggest issue. HOB won't work because of the thick rear lip. So I'm thinking a nice nano skimmer might work best. The collector cup can be any size, but the body of the skimmer has to fit in an area 3in by 4in, and not be any longer than 16 inches.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
