New Fish Behavior

After almost three years, in the past month or so my two largest fish, a three spot damsel and a sailfin tang desjardini, have started occasionally digging large holes in my sand with their tails. Not sure which one is the real culprit but I believe both. Is this behavior just normal or might it be a clue to something else? Any thoughts?
