I have a 40 gallon long sump less reef tank. I have been trying to do a HOB refuguim (in Aquaclear 70 filter) but it is not doing much. I am trying to add a custom fuge behind the tank (24"x 6"x 8"). The one thing i am really confused about is the design of the baffles inside the fuge. Concern is:
- Do i need to have baffles to prevent bubbles & what is the optimal design (totally confused)? fuge will be fed by a small pump and return will be handled by a separate pump (i know this is a bit risky but i will add a flat switch to shut off intake pump if water exceeds a certain level). Another question; are baffles needed to prevent chaeto pieces from flowing back into the tank?
- Will the return pump kill copepods before entering the tank again?
