Refugium

So I have a seperate tank next to my DT filled with tons of pods. I usually take one nice rock out of the DT and place it in the refugium for about a week. This week before I put the rock back in the DT i noticed tons of hydroids floating around the refugium and attached to the glass. Is my refugium basically useless now? :/
