Equip Gurus... Refractometer help, please!

So my little terror — I mean, lovely toddler — managed to get ahold of my Marine Depot refractometer last week while I was doing a water change... I know, I know, 3 year olds and cool looking telescopic gadgets don't mix well. I learned my lesson.



Now I need to mix SW for my upcoming WC. I tried placing the eye piece back over the glass lens, but it just falls off. There is remnants of a blue goo around the looking-end, and I'm thinking maybe the seal for the eye piece was just broken? But now I can't see the refracted water clearly (maybe I need new glasses), it looks smudged...



Anyone out there have any advice out how to fix the poor, brutalized thing? Or should I just embrace the suck and buy a new one...?
