I have two fresh tanks and my 55g softy reef. Its cold here in texas at 32 degrees (I know, some of you have it much worse!!) and I want to keep my furnace set at 62 to keep costs down, but when I checked the temperatures for all the tanks this morning, the fresh were around 68 (each has a submersible heater) and the salt was at 75. Would it be advisable, or not, to add another heater to each tank, or is that asking for trouble? I don't have controllers or temp alarms yet to alert me to stuck-on heaters. Or should I just bite the bullet and put the house temp up to 68-72?
