Red Sea reefer 350 lid

Hi I've been having issues with fish jumping out of my thank I have had the tank for 6 months and today found one of my favourites dried up on the floor. So I have bitten the bullet and ordered some clear Perspex in 8mm thickness I have also bought some tank clips to hold it onto the inside of the tank etc. So my question is there anything I should look out for by adding a lid and will my lights still do there job through it
