I recently installed a 165W Galaxyhydro (just another brand of black box LED from amazon) on my 29g cube. My unit has wifi control via a smartphone app, which, despite being written in broken English, actually works very well. EXCEPT, the white channel randomly turns on to the lowest setting at night. When it does, I go into the app, increase the white channel brightness slider from 0% and then drag it back down to 0%. This turns the light off, except it then comes back on a few hours later.
Apart from this issue I'm actually thrilled with how well the unit performs. Great spectrum, fantastic PAR readings and quiet fans. I'm just curious if any fellow black box users have had similar issues and how they were able to resolve them. I'm still unsure if there's an aspect of programming the light that I'm not getting, if there's a simple fix along the lines of this amazon review or if I should return the unit. Even some insight as to why a light would do this would be appreciated, I always like to understand the root cause of a problem.
