I picked up a Petco brand 6.25 gallon Arc yesterday. I figured I would give a nano a try. I like the look of a tank that is crammed full of corals. I plan on housing zoanthids and other very forgiving soft corals.
The tank appears to be decent quality. I have read mixed reviews on it but figured I'd give it a shot. It has a built in filter with two cartridges. One is filter floss with carbon and the other contains ceramic pellets. The next chamber has a large sponge in it and the last chamber simply contains the return pump. Everything was included but the heater. It has an LED light that clips on. It has 44 white and 4 blue. The wavelengths are unknown but I'm sure I will have to upgrade the light to have much success with any corals. It also has a glass top. I am somewhat worried about flow into the back corners but as long as I keep up with water changes, I can frequently siphon any detritus that collects there. A water change will be nothing in a tank this small too.
I plan to move the sponge to the first compartment to make room for my heater. All together, I have less than $90 invested. This includes the tank, heater, sand and live rock.
The live rock came from a LFS that was going out of business and I picked it up for $1.50/lb. Unfortunately, I think it is the stuff that was painted to make it more visually appealing. I got about 8lb of it.
I am about to paint the back of the tank black to match the overflow.
