So I ordered a Mars Aqua 165w LED light fixture for my 65 gallon tank.
It got in today.
First off I was thinking of turning the blue, white dimmer all the way down and using it as a moon light. It looks too bright for me turned all the way down.
Does anyone have any experience with this fixture?
Is it too bright? The only moonlights I have had were on an Odysee fixture.
There were only 4 and very dim.
If anyone is wondering about these fixtures they put out good light.
The only mounting option they come with is a cable hanger, the cables are about 11 inches long.
I have not gotten around to playing with the height of the water yet. It is sitting on 2 boards around 5 inches above the water. At this height the light does not cover the entire tank end to end.
I will have to see what I get when I raise it.
The fans are quiet, that is a plus.
I don't care much for a cable hanging mount as I have a ceiling fan and it will be blowing around so I will have to make a mount for it.
The biggest drawback is no timers. No ramp up and down on the light level. Of course I did not have that on the other fixture I had so it is not something new.
Maybe I can open it up and put separate dimmers on some of the lights.
I don't know how many LED Driver it has. I could possibly even get some kind of programmable ramp time to add to it.
I will post a photo of the tank with the LEDs turned all the way down if no one has an idea on the suitability as a moonlight. And I will let you know how they work.
The blues when turned up a little add colors to my Manicina areolata corals that I had no idea were there.
Any input is appreciated
