Just because your skimmer is not producing as much mate as it has in the past
does not always mean the skimmer is not performing well.
It could be the maintenance is performing quite well on the keepers end of things.

overnight collection of skimmer cup run off
never mind the crud on the entire bottom of the L bucket
but the colour of the water is what I'm going for here.
L bucket 100g tank with less maintenance.
R bucket 40g with exceptional maintenance.
BTW the skimmer on the 40 is set quite very dry.
The cup has more of a dust encrusted mate coverage
on the walls and very little down in the cup.
I've never seen skim mate this dry before.
I really don't see a problem with "over skimming"
Skimmer on my 40 is rated for 250g
Skimmer on my 100 is rated for 400-600g
which will go on my 40 when I shut the 100 down.
Yeh, 10x or more the system capacity. It was on my 46 for some time.
Don't mind the CC coral doubling in the last 3 months on my 40B.
It's not a skimmer thing well maybe it helps...a little
