So, several months ago I posted here because I got a 75 gallon fish tank for free, and was intrigued by the idea of a reef tank. I've put tons of money into this already, but I think the big expenses are gone for the most part, for now. However, I am intending on buying a reef octopus HOB protein skimmer, and then the build should be complete(unless advised otherwise)
So far, I have two 950gph powerheads(will be switching to jebao in the future),
Evergrow IT2080 32" light fixture, a heater for the water, around 100 pounds of live rock, and 60 pounds of live sand(more to come later)
What do you guys think? Anything else I should invest in? I am absolutely not going with a sump, although I do have a 55 gallon sump, and HOB Overflow that I got when I bought my liverock. I just don't trust it, and wont be drilling holes, I am open to any other suggestions, or ways to flood proof my sump, and HOB Overflow.
I've already run into my first diotime algae issue, and it seems to be taking over my coraline algae which I got to seed the other rocks in the tank. Haha. I killed the lights for a full day, and it killed it all and it has yet to return at full stregnth, but still remains. I've been scrubbing the glass, to keep it off the glass, as well as the power heads. Should I just let it do it's thing?
I need to buy a cleanup crew, I've just exhausted my funds with the live rock, and the lights. Anyway, what do you guys think? Like my rock work? :P Keeping in mind, some of those rocks will go in the future, and new cured rocks will come later.
Also, I want to note that when I initially filled the tank up, I had it up to the lining, so I wouldn't see a water mark.. The water has magically disappeared. Evaporation from the heater, maybe? And I am absolutely certain there is no leak.
