Fishkeeping Experience: I started keeping things in water when I was 5. The first was tadpoles that I caught and raised. So the second thing I kept...you guessed it...frogs. It just rolled on from there and I've been keeping things alive in water ever since. At one point I had 9 tanks running. My wife said my study looked like a fish store. After I realized she didn't mean that as a compliment I took some down and put up my current 210 gallon reef tank.
Keeping a reef is very fulfilling but I've always kept a freshwater tank as well. As stunning as a coral can be there is something about the green of plants that soothes me. I'm also the administrator on TRT's sister forum fishforums.net which is a nice FW forum.
I'm active locally with coral and fish rescue, breeding and propagation, and I'm on YouTube.
Because I love to read, and because I love science related things I am always putting some new article or book on my Kindle Fire to read. After almost 39 years of keeping aquaria I stay interested because I'm always learning. For a birthday gift my wife got me a microscope so now I am observing the micro-fauna. It never ends and that's a good thing. When I'm too old to lift 5 gallon jugs of water I will make my grandkids do it for me.
This is a great forum because the people know so much and it's been easy for me to increase my knowledge here.
Current Tanks: 210 gallon reef tank, 10 gallon planted tank.
Favorite Species: Puffers, puffers, puffers & micro-fish
Personal/Random Information: I love to read, write, and I sculpt & I love pie (and it shows, I'm a big guy) also, I wear hats. My favorite is a Stetson. When I was a kid my Stetsons were western cowboy Stetsons like my dad but this fits my style more now. I'm the only one with a hat rack outside his cubicle at work.
