Current set up:
25 Gallon Aquarium
Peguin 350 (With both carbon pads in it)
2 Powerheads
29 lbs uncured live rock
15lbs Aragonite
100 watt heater
Full Spectrum 120 watt dimmable LED lighting
I use culligan R/O water
Instant Ocean salt
I keep my salinity at 1.024-1.026 ( mostly 1.024 )
Temp: 28 celsius
API Test kit
So exactly 13 Days ago I added uncured live rock to my aquarium as well as seeding I received from my LFS. I added my aragonite and salt water acouple days previous to this. Anyways to sum this all up, The first 4-6 Days I watched my Ammonia Spike go up and back down to zero. My nitrite was high at the end of the ammonia spike like normal. After this my nitrite bacteria has been slowly converting my nitrites to nitrates. Yesterday (Day12) I measured 8.1 PH, 0ppm Ammonia, 1.0-2.0pm Nitrite. and rougly 5.0ppm nitrate (maybe slightly higher). TODAY (Day 13) my PH took a total plunge to 7.7-7.8 ish. 0 ppm Ammonia. 0 ppm Nitrite. roughy 10ppm nitrate. I have been adding flake food to my tank every second day to replicate fish waste and help the cycle. I should add that I have been testing my water daily for PH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate so i can follow the cycling process. So I have literally observed my Ammonia and Nitrites being over 1.0ppm-2.0ppm and droping to o ppm within a 24 hour period. I understand my tank is still unstable and I will not be adding anything to it.
My PH has been stable at 8.1 until now.
QUESTIONS:
1. Is my PH Dropping like this normal? Will the aragonite bring it back up?
2. It it even possible cycling this fast using uncured live rock?
3. What should I do now? Should I do a 10-15% Water change and treat this as the end of my cycle?
Thank you for your help in advance!
