DIY LED lighting project, need input

Hey everyone,

New on here and am looking for some advice on building a lighting system for my 93g cube that I recently upgraded to. Currently I'm running a single AI sol super blue fixture on the tank and would like to build something that works a little bit better for the tank. The super blues are ok but for the most part I haven't been all that impressed with them (have been running them for 2+ years on my 36gallon that I just upgraded to the 93) and would like to make my own fixture. My first foray into the DIY LED world was a solid success so I would like to push my luck and go for a bigger fixture this time. My first was a single driver, 12 LED (purchased all parts from RapidLed.com) fixture for my 5g fluval spec V nano reef and I've seen incredible growth, polyp extension, SPS polyp density (had a small acro frag that was dying, moved it to this tank and within a week its polyp density had increased by at least 5x) and coloration with these lights.

Nano fixture (all parts from RapidLED.com):

12x1.4" heatsink

0-10v dimmable nano driver

4x CREE XT-E royal blue

2x CREE XP-G 5W Neutral white

2x CREE XP-G2 5W Warm white

1x CREE XP-E Green

1x CREE XP-E Red

I opted out of any lenses since it is a very shallow tank and I wanted to make sure I had good spread. Currently I'm running them at about 75% (its just a simple dial potentiometer so I can only guess where its at) and won't be running any higher since its a pretty jam packed fixture with LEDs and they are running warm where they are set now. The tank has a mix of LPS and SPS all of which are doing quite well. I tend to move frags from the large tank with the AI sols to the nano if they seem to be unhappy with the lighting in there and they perk up instantly.

So based on my success and some perusing of forums on the DIY LED lighting topic I’ve come up with this design. As of right now I plan on using RapidLED.com again since I’ve been pleased with them in past transactions, but I am open for suggestions on other sources for the parts.

6x 1.4x12” heatsinks

4x LDD-1000H dimmable drivers

1x Mean Wel SE-350-48 power supply

Storm controller

4 Channels:

1: 12 XP-G 5W Neutral white

2: 12 XT-E royal blue and 4 XP-E blue

3: 2 XP-E reds and 2 XP-E greens

4: 4 SemiLeds True violet UV

The fixture footprint will be 12”x12” with the six 12” heatsinks placed evenly apart. Each heatsink will have 6 LEDs evenly spaced

I have a simple diagram of the design that shows the arrangement of the colors but apparently I cannot upload them to forums until I've had more activity on the forums. I will upload them as soon as I can!

Any advice/input is welcome as I am fairly new to this and have lots to learn :)

Thanks!
