Hey! :wavey:
I posted a thread earlier about having what I believe to be a 60g (I'll update with measurements if I can find a tape measure) aquarium that I wasn't sure what to do with. I've decided that if it seems doable and worth my time, I'd absolutely love to keep seahorses! I know most people keep seahorses in smaller aquariums, but I figured this'll just give me room to keep a few more.
I know I won't need a heater as my house at room temperature stays between the mid sixties to the mid seventies, so it'd be useless, but does that mean I could simply leave the tank at room temperature? I'm not planning on having any fancy, heat producing, lights for growing since I plan on keeping only algaes and maybe some button polyps or mushroom corals, so I'm not thinking that a chiller will be necessary.
The decision rests on what type of filtration is going to be necessary. I know I'll need a protein skimmer, but can I simply leave it at that and add a small pump for water movement? Because this aquarium is going on a floor with carpet I don't want to risk attaching an overflow and sump.
Please give any information or opinions you have, personal experience or not, on seahorse aquariums!
