So my plan for the near future is to start a seahorse tank. I currently have a 10 gallon with a royal gramma, mushrooms and xenia. I did have clowns but I think my gramma killed them. I am no longer enjoying this tank and have always wanted to keep seahorses. I just want to start fresh. Tear down the old tank. Start a completely new tank. I will give the royal gramma away as I know I can't keep seahorses with a royal gramma. I want a docile tank with some corals as well. If my research has been correct, I should be able to keep my xenia and mushrooms. I'll have to figure out the lighting situation bc seahorses do not require a lot of light.
I plan to keep my current LR. I have about 10lbs total (4 pieces). My problem is that the coral are growing all over them. When I start my new tank and add the sand and let that cycle, how can I add the LR while acclimating the shrooms and xenia that are covering them? Since this LR is already cured as it has been in my tank for 4 years, do I still have to cycle the new tank or will already be cycled? I just seem to be drawing a blank right now..help?
