I've had horrible hair algae since this last January, when a fish died in my tank while I was away on holidays. The fish decomposed completely and started the bane of my existence. I have tried almost everything - I've done crazy water changes, installed a phosphate reactor and I just cant get it under control. Removing it manually works for about a month, but then it begins to sprout again and regrows completely. The sight of my tank makes me depressed. I'd like to try removing all my rock and keeping it in total darkness for a couple months - nuking, if you will. Another thing I had read was if I boil my rocks it should kill everything. The only downside is that I'd be starting my tank cycle all over again.
Just wondering if anybody has any experience or any magic tricks that might cure my tank.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
