Hello All,
So yesterday I added a 5 head hammer coral, and a small button polyp. When adding the corals I rearanged many of the corals in the tank and upset them in the process (However, this is nothing I haven't done before). Before adding the new corals I did a 25% water change.
Usually after doing a large re-arange and cleaning such as this the water water will completely clear up and corals will open in about 2-4 hours. However, this morning when I looked at the tank, all corals were still strongly closed, the water was fairly cloudy (Hasn't happened since initial cycling), and 2 of my astrae turbo snails died.
Seeing this i did another 25% water change this morning before work. When I got back the corals are all still closed (Except for the button polyp).
Any opinions on what could be happening would be appreciated. I bought some ammonia lock and dosed it in case there is ammonia I can't detect (my test kits are old, but have proven accurate enough in the past)
Fish and Cleaner Shrimp are acting normal
The tank has been up for about 6 months tank specs:
10g
Livestock:
2 ocellaris clowns
1 cleaner shrimp
2 blue leg hermit
2 red leg hermit
2 atrae turbo snails
1 nassarius snail
Corals:
4 head hammer
5 head hammer
4 head frogspawn
medium-small button polyp
assorted zoas
Small Xenia
Duncan (1 large head, 6 growing in (small)
Husbandry:
25% water change 1/week
Change filter floss 1/week
No Carbon
Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 82-84
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10ish
Appreciate any opinions as to what have caused this. Could a coral have released something toxic that is clouding the water and upsetting everything?
