Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to get some LEDs as I upgrade my 29g FOWLER to a reef. My plan is to have mostly LPS/softies, but I would like to have the ability to maybe put some SPS up closer to the surface.
I can justify spending up to the ~$200 range, but I am a grad student and if I can save money without making a big sacrifice in performance, I would really appreciate it. I plan to upgrade everything when I finish school in a few years, so getting something that will last for years on end isn't a huge priority. I'm also not super concerned about them being programmable as I already have a few timers I can use.
The tank dimensions are 30" x 13" and 18" deep.
Here are the options I've narrowed it down to:
Ebay Evergrow 120W - $100
Reef Radiance DM-155e - $179
Ocean Revive T247 - $199
Ocean Revive OR-U120 - $160
Kessil A150 - $225 (I'm not sure if one of these would be sufficient to light my whole tank?)
Right now, I'm leaning towards the Ebay lights simply because of price. Would the Reef Radiance or Ocean Revive fixtures really be that much of an improvement? If so, are the Arctic T247 worth the extra $20-40? I might be able to be convinced to go for the Kessil if that one fixture would be enough for my tank.
FYI, I've thought about T5 fixtures, but it seems like any decent T5-HO 4 bulb fixture is in this price range already, so why not go LED?
Thanks!
