I have been facing a green algae problem in my 60 gallon tank, as it is in the "Uglies" phase (only 3-4 months old). I use RO/DI water and nitrate/phosphates are both 0. I have 4 t5 bulbs. The two actinics run for 12 hours and the 2 10k bulbs run for 6 hours. My question to you: is there any way to limit algae growth (especially on the sandbed) by having a concentrated area of algae elsewhere? Like have a small 6 inch by 6 inch platform near the top of the tank, allowing algae to grow here, a more suitable place, instead of elsewhere? I read about macro algaes but they are less dense then a green algae population and I don't have a sump to house it. Any other tips/ways to do it are welcomed as well.
