Sump or Refugium?

Hi I am somewhat new to the hobby. I went out and bough a regular marineland 60 gal aquarium from pet smart to start out (5 months ago) wish I would've researched more about reef tanks BEFoRe I bought one. So long story short, we want to upgrade to the Red Sea reefer 350 (73gal) or another similar reef ready tank. I have been reading mixed reviews about red sea because they can't fit a Refugium.. But I've also read refugiums aren't necessary. Help!! I want to get the info I need before I buy a tank which I want to do asap :help:
