Sharpnose puffer diet question.

I want to start feeding my sharpnose puffer meaty foods that still have shells attatched, online it only lists clam, but my question is how do i prep the food for the freezer with shells still on? Should i just freeze clam halves and then smash em up once their frozen? Before theyre frozen?

Could i use something smaller like small mussels or scallops? And it lists hard shelled shrimp in diet, is this as effective for beak maintenance as the clam shell?
