Overflow/return Help

I am getting ready to drill my tank for the overflow and return bulkheads. Question is WHERE :). Is there a best practices on how high and how far in from the side and how far apart for the 2 overflow holes is best. I am doing 2 holes for overflow and 1 for return. My overflow box is 12" wide. Thanks for the suggestions in advance.
