looking for some opinions on my lighting setup. I have just purchased LED lights with a storm controller. They have sunset and sunrise settings and I am trying to determine the best options.
I previously had T5 lights that I set on a timer: 10 hours on a day for White/day and 12 hours on a day for actinics (1 hour before and 1 hour after). The new controller does have a manual setting but I liked the idea of setting it to the regional sunset/sunrise (in particular so the room is not light when the tank is dark). However in the UK at the moment this would mean the lights being on all bar about 4 hours! I assume this is a complete no for reef keeping?
Secondly, the 'night' setting I have has 4 small LED's on very dim. Is this acceptable or do they really need to be turned off entirely? (I find it difficult to keep the tank in complete darkness due to the light coming through my blinds).
