So it has been about two here's since I sold my reef tank. I am still living in the same place and life took some turns and my wife lost her job in banking (not to her own fault though) and I told her to go back to school being that she was unhappy with her career. So she went back for culinary arts(she was already a excellent cook) and we are in the middle of starting a catering business, but I have figured out a way to get my reef fix.
I recently have become infatuated with Fluval Edges, particularly the 6g. So I found a deal on a used set up. I had to repair a crack on the HOB filter housing,
and I made DIY intake tubing being that it was missing and the replacement parts were $20 and I could buy the pvc for $5. The lights are getting swapped out for some ebay LEDs and no optics. The tank is only 9" tall. It is running now and cycling.
The budget breakdown is:
6g Fluval Edge $55 -Pump was Broken/Light not reef ready
PVC $5 -Repair pump
3lbs of LR $15
10lbs argonite sand $9
3 LEDs 2x(12k),1(blue) $10 -eBay
LED Driver $9 -eBay
160gph PH $7 -eBay
I plan on adding before livestock:
3lbs of LR $15
Bag of Copepods $10
TOTAL: $135
I don't know if the img above will work.
