Clam acclimation?

I'm probably getting a maxima soon and to acclimate it I will fill a little container with sand and put maybe a piece of live rock in there for the clam to attach and let that sit on the sand bed. After a few days I'll move it up to the next rock structure up and in the next few days move it up to the spot I want him. I have 6 t5ho about 5-6 inches off the water and the clam would be sitting about 4 inches away from the water line. My light cycle is only 5 hours with moon leds on from 5-12 but I will extend the light period from 12-5 to 9-5. Does this acclimation sound about right?
