I posted my first review on TRT a few days ago - Aiptasia X and I gave it a good review. But now I can't help but wonder about their "reef Safe" claim....
I always new that I was using some kind of poison to kill a life form with extremely similar biology to the lifeforms I want to keep alive and therefore being "reef safe" didn't quite add up.
So here is the anecdotal evidence:
Started using Aiptasia X three weeks ago to attack a major infestation that took over while I was traveling heavily for a couple months. I purposely kept it away from corals and softies, moving the frags if necessary to get to the Aiptasia.
About 2 weeks ago my green tipped stag coral suddenly and grusomly died over night - poor guy, flesh handing off the skeleton. I checked my water parameters and everything was good (0's, 8.1ph ,440 Cal) except for nitrates which I have never been able to get under control in this setup. They run as high as 80 but were down at 20 when the stag died.
I almost posted a plea on TRT about it but decided their were too many variables and I couldn't defend the nitrates.
Here is where I started to suspicious -
My father's tank started getting a few Aiptasia. I recommended Aiptasia X. He used it Saturday and today (Monday) his green tipped stag coral is dead.
Thoughts?
