Next Tank Planning!

It has come time to plan my next tank. This build will probably occur in July, but I like to plan ahead to prevent mistakes.



Alright, I was thinking ea 40b reef? What is your opinion? I'm leaning towards a reef, and I know the 40b has a better footprint for one.



Will stocking options really vary that much between the tanks?

This is my first venture outside of the Nano world.



A rough outline of a price for the tanks would be great. If you could, plan one as a fowlr. Here is my run-down, but I really want more assurance for the tank. I know you are thinking. "Oh great another poster who wants us to do all the work." Well no, I just have never run a tank that's not a Nano.



Here is my version of the run down- Though I am probably off.

Do I need a protein skimmer for it? Or could I run it with just a sump?



Tank= $40 $ per gallon sale

Heater= $33 Ehiem 150 watt

Powerheads- Koralia 850- $30

Sump Tank- $20 +20 for plumbing stuff

Sand- $25

Rock- $60

Lights- $100

Total= $338



That seems pretty good to me. I have never run a sump. Do I honestly need one for a 40b since its still on the smaller side?
