Hows it going TRT'ers. Happy Friday!!
So I've had my system running for ~ 3-4 months now. Ive followed the great advice given to me by the knowledgeable people here on TRT. Im thankful for their advice and wisdom. I have taken this new tank from the ground up, slowly but surely, and am currently in a great place.
I have a 55 gal tank, 20 gallon Eshopp (w/ boil balls) sump, 4 54w T5HO (2 blue, 2 white) running on a 12 hour cycle (blue--> 530am-530pm, white--> 630am-430pm), Reef Octopus (AC20284) Protein Skimmer, UV Sterilizer, 50lbs of base rock that are now ~50% covered in corralline algae, and 20-30 lbs of CaribSea live sand.
At the current moment i have;
2 Percula Clowns
1 Blue Damsel (I'm aware they are schooling fish and i should have ~3, but my LFS only had one and so i only got 1 with the intension of getting another 2 once the system if ready for it)
1 Strawberry Dottyback
1 Coral Beauty Angel
4 Turbo Snails
1 Turban Snail (according to my LFS)
1 Skarlet Skunk Cleaner
1 Green Star Polyp
4 Polyp Frags --> Various Colors
Feeding Schedule :
After the Actinic Blue light turn on for ~30 min (6am) i feed them 1/2 Block of Spirulina Brine Shrimp and throw in a few blood worms.
And when i return from work i do the same ~6pm
A few questions;
1) I noticed my Coral Beauty Angel isn't too fond of the Spirulina Brine Shrimp or the blood worms. Is there a difference feeding regiment i should follow for the Beauty Angel?
I also noticed that the Beauty Angel was being a little aggressive towards the clowns, but I'm not sure if that was because it was just first introduced to the system and was trying to show dominance or if thats just its typical demeanor. Any thoughts?
2) What is the best food for the polyps. Im aware that i can directly feed them via a turkey baster (among other things). Just curious what you guys feed your polyps and how they respond to those feedings...?
3) After i add the additional 2 damsels to the system, would you say i am approaching my max bio-load?
I think thats all for now, but if i think of anything else i'll keep you in the loop.
Thanks again!!
