Hi Guys
So it looks like the flesh on my duncan is ripping off. It is extending it's polyps and has been growing well over the last few months. It started as 3 heads and is up to 5.
I noticed a tear in the flesh a few days ago. I moved it into a lower flow area, but it is getting worse. I'm going to be honest, I have been slacking a bit when it comes to water testing. Been doing weekly changes, but haven't tested in about a month. I checked the other day and found that my Cal was at 380, my Alk was 6.1 (! this is the lowest I've ever recorded, it's usualy around 7) and my Mag was around 1150ppm.
I decided that I am not happy with my Cal/Alk/Mag levels. They've always been on the low side. I went out and got some Red Sea ABC+, along with the individual Cal/Alk/Mag supplements. I started dosing yesterday. I'm adding 4 grams a day over the next 10 days to hopefully get the parameters up slowly. I'm not sure if this is the cause of it or not, but either way I've decided to be more diligent with my water quality.
It's worth noting that I recently lost a long tentacle plate coral. It just sort of withered away to nothing after looking great for 2 or 3 months.
I also have Xenia, a Candy cane coral, an Alveopora and some mushrooms which all look healthy and happy.
Any idea what could be causing this issue?
