New Zoa keeper

Maybe a simple question but i'm new to Zoanthids / reef in general. I'm to the point that my new 90 is stable ( which i know is relative ). I'm looking to start adding some Zoa's. My question is as I get frags / pieces / colonies should I leave them on the plug and place them in position or should I remove them from the plug and place them directly on the rock? Thx in advance for your feedback...
