First off, great forums here. This might get a little long winded, so here it goes.
I was given a 120 gallon tank with stand. Including pumps, skimmer( I assume), power heads, heater, lighting, at one time live rock, and what looks like crushed rock on the bottom. Even a few dead ex-inhabitants.
I would like to dive into the saltwater arena after having freshwater tanks from years, largest was 100 gal.
Where do I start with a tank that was killed?
I am assuming the previous owner just put the siphon tube in it and walked away. I read about cooking the rock. Will that help in the situation? There is a green algae looking stuff on some of the rocks. I can take pictures if it helps.
I know it will take some time to get this up and going again, but I am willing to take the necessary steps to do it right from the word go. Thank you all for you time.
