Help ! Reef Octopus PS BH 90 overflowing

Hi, i have had my HOB Reef Octopus Skimmer BH90 setup for about 8 days now. The adjusting rod has been set up to open (to avoid overflowing) but so far there was no collection of skim mate at the collection cup. All i was getting was foaming up to the neck (but not reaching the cup). Just yesterday i started adjusting the return rod by closing it about 0.25-0.5". After feeding frozen food today (shrimp and seaweed) to my 2 clowns, the skimmer went crazy all of a sudden and decided to overflow. Thankfully, i was there right in front of the tank so i took action to prevent a disaster.



What are your thoughts? help and advise appreciated. I am afraid to leave the skimmer running at night or when i go out.



Should i leave it in "open" for a couple of more weeks or what?



Pls help me out.
