Need an idea on how to address a sump issue.

I had been using my skimmer in a tote inside my sump tank. But, seeing the pump for the skimmer has died on me now is the time to make a permanent answer to my problem. I want to either make an "S" curve in the tank itself using plexiglass. Or better yet make a plexiglass box to fit inside the tank that the skimmer physically sits inside. Curious if anyone here has built their own tank or not as this is basically what I want to do. I remember Carym did a long long time ago but not sure what ever became of that. If someone could chime in with ideas or if you have experience with acrylic please step forward so I can pick your brain.
