Skimmer pump

Ok so I have the 48" tall lifereef skimmer operating off of a mag 24. I am thinking of changing the pump out to s jebao dct 15000 which is a 4000 gph pump. The mag draws 265 watts while the jebao draws 105 and gives an extra 1600 gph of flow. Allegedly the venturi operates better with pumps that have big balls. Anyway the electric cost would be cut in half for that one pump, but would take about 15 months to pay for itself.
My question is who runs lifereef and can you really see performance gains with larger pumps? Would the extra 1600 gph be worth it?
