I just found out that one of my fish (heniochus black+white btfly) has ich. Thought it was a schooling bannerfish like the rest of the trio when I got it but then the stray black mark showed up and I knew I hade made a mistake @ the LFS. I put some garlic in the QT tank and that helped a bit, but now the poor thing is turning pale. Now its stripes are looking more gray than black, the yellow isn't as bright as it naturally is and the eyestripes barely mask his eyes. I need something to help with the paling and I also need a Cryptocaryon irritans (saltwater ich for you unscientific subordinates) remedy that will not harm inverts.
Also, the heniochus was pecking on the back of my male green mandarinfish. (Poor old Blenny.) Now he has a little white blotch on his back right under his tall fin and he can't raise it up. (♪ You raise me up… so I can stand on mountains ♪) The LFS staff told me that it was just dead scales that the butterflyfish was pecking at and since they were ripped away the spot was all white. But I know that MANDARINFISH DON'T HAVE SCALES! What is it? It's not fuzzy so it's not fungus. There are also tiny pale blotches all over my female green mandarinfish.
If anyone has any idea about what is going on in my crazy fish tank and how to fix it, please inform me ASAP. I will be able to give a substantial reward. (Just kidding about that last part.)
Thanks,
