Well, to those who have followed my posts I've battled and battled with algae, and specifically with Dino's. Unfortunately, I never won my battle with dino's, and sadly that's not the reason I'm starting over. It's been freezing here in Texas, with temperatures consistently in the twenties at night. My heater decided to break, and I was reliant on my heater in the tank to keep the fish warm. Then, the breaker blew, and power was out for two days, everything electrically had to be replaced. Subsequently, my fish didn't make it with 2 days of no power whatsoever, and temperatures in the twenties. My fish died, thankfully I had no corals. The only things that survied was my lawn mower blenny, hermit crabs, 1 snail, and of course, the blasted dino's.
I may not completely restart, however, I may take this time to fix the tank. I intend on ordering Ultra Algae X from Europe and giving it a whirl. From then I may replace my black sand with typical sand and redo my aquascape. If the Dino's die, I will add fish, and complete my ambitions of adding corals. If they do not, I suppose I'll tear the tank down and start all over the way over.
