Dying Corals

Today I got up to find all of my corals in limbo; Colts wilted over covered in mucus, Xenia all but dissolved, mushrooms shriveled up. There is a good bit of mucus all around the tank but I can’t figure out the culprit.

My blue linkia (had for 2+ years) had been looking a bit skinnier lately and not as active. I believe he’s now dead as some of the ends of his arms are broken off and there are white patches here and there. I’ve removed him into a small quarantine tank just to be safe. I’ve got a spiny sea urchin that appears to be doing fine, though slowly moving.

I immediately threw a filter sock into my sump this morning when it happened. We did have unusually cold temperatures here last night but the temps were reading 79 degrees or so first thing when I checked. Basic water test came back pretty normal. The tank is a 72 gallon with sump.

Yesterday I did top off with 5 gallons of RO/DI as I do about every week. Other than that nothing new.

I’m currently making a big batch of water to try and get a water change going but I know that will be later tomorrow before the water is finished, salt has dissolved, etc.

Is there anything I can do in the meantime to try and save the corals or are they done for?

All of my fish appear to be doing fine (tangs, clowns, damsel).

Could the linkia dying cause all of this? I haven’t found anything stating so, but I’m not sure whats going on. I know that the linkia dying is a sign of a problem; but not sure what could have cause this sudden disaster overnight.

My protein skimmer started acting up a week ago and hasn’t been running much lately so I’m trying to get it fixed, but I can’t see how that would cause any of this.

Any ideas or recommendations are greatly appreciated!
