I'm in the process of getting the baffles in my 10g sump put in only to realize that my planned over - under - over setup is really going to cut into the return section - silly me underestimated the glass thickness and spacing during mock up.
Primary reasons for the baffles is to maintain a constant skimmer depth and reduce any potential bubbles. Skimmer is the updated classic 110 int. First baffle @7" which is the over. Second baffle a bit over 1" from the bottom and goes up to the rim. Did a bit of searching and I've seen dual and triple bubble traps but no clear consensus on the performance differences.
I can't really see the need for the last over baffle. The 110 didn't put out much micro bubbles during some breakin time. The two baffles should do their job trapping any bubbles but I could be overlooking something.
