Does cyano irritate fish/corals?

My tank is only a few months old, and lots of reading here at TRT has prepared me for "the uglies", so I'm not too concerned about my recent bloom of what I believe is cyano. Plus I over feed so it was pretty much inevitable. I test my water daily and do 10% water changes every week. Is that enough during this outbreak? It seemed to come back within just a couple days after the last cleaning so I'm wondering if I need to up my schedule even though the parameters are all fine. Is cyano irritating to fish or corals? Everything seems to be okay except my green star polyps - they're not extending as much as usual, so that made me wonder if I need to be getting rid of this stuff sooner rather than later.
