Hi guys I've been into fish my whole life and got into reef keeping 3 years ago when my neighbor had an old tank he was getting rid of. Recently i graduated college and as a graduation present my parents are getting me a 180 gallon reef ready tank from aqueon. So in the past the tanks that i've had haven't needed plumbing but now i'm going to have to. My question is what is the easiest way to plumb the tank? It has duel back overflows. I haven't found any step by step instructions on how to actually set up the piping. I would want to put in Herbie overflows on both boxes.
So i guess my main questions are:
1- would i be connecting the main pipe and emergency pipe together underneath the tank?
2- if i'm merging the main pipe and emergency pipe together would i then be connecting the two overflow boxes piping together? (Kind of making a Y but with two branch points off the top)
3- would i use a ball valve where all these pipes come together to control the flow of water from the main tank?
4- the only thing on the return piping to the aquarium would be the check valve to stop overflow in the case of broken suction?
Sorry for the length i'm just worried that i'll screw up and have 180 gallons of water in my living room (and my parents yelling at me lol). Thank you in advance! Oh and if there's any good step-by-step construction guides/videos please point me in that direction. :)
